Why postmenopause wellness became my focus
For years, yoga was more than movement for me.
It was how I found my way back to myself.
It taught me how to listen, how to breathe, how to slow down enough to notice what my body was asking for. It helped me understand that wellness is not something we squeeze in after every other responsibility is handled. It is part of how we stay able to live the life we love.
As I moved through midlife and postmenopause myself, my focus became clearer.
So much of the menopause conversation stays stuck in symptom land.
Hot flashes. Night sweats. Brain fog. Mood swings. Sleep problems. Weight changes.
And yes, those things matter.
But I kept thinking about the bigger question:
What happens after the loudest symptoms settle?
What happens when a woman is postmenopausal and still has decades of life ahead of her?
What does she need to stay strong enough to climb stairs, walk trails, carry groceries, get down on the floor with her grandchildren, protect her bones, support her heart, keep her mind sharp, recover from stress, and feel at home in her body?
What does she need so life does not quietly get smaller?
What does she need to avoid trips & falls, to build and keep a healthy heart & brain, to be able to get down on the floor and back up without another person assisting, to achieve deep rest & be refreshed, to influence better connection in her community, to be active and mobile for herself and for her grandchildren in her life to create a Legacy and teach future generations the secret to a life well lived.
That is where Integrative Menopause Wellness lives.
Not in fear.
Not in anti-aging.
Not in chasing who we used to be.
But in building the strength, rest, balance, knowledge, community, and daily support we need for the women we are becoming.
